Hailing from Colombo, Sri Lanka, Chamal Jayaratna is a jewelry designer with a family history in the jewelry industry. Growing up with a love of gems and craftsmanship, Chamal made his first ring when he was twelve. His love of design grew over the years as did his knowledge of CAD/CAM. He has won numerous prestigious awards for his designs, and one such award won him a scholarship to GIA where he earned his Applied Jewelry Professional (AJP) diploma at GIA Thailand. With more than 17 years of experience creating photorealistic renderings and prototype models, he is currently Chief Brand Designer of Brilliyond Jewellery Australia and Head of Design at W&W Luxury, Paris and has high hopes of launching his own high-end jewelry brand one day. According to Chamal, his design inspiration flows from his love of nature and architecture.
